To New Beginnings
I began this photography journey as a professional over 25 years ago, and it’s been a great journey. At the time, I was running a carpet cleaning business as well, so the photography never fully got the attention it deserved. In 2020, I closed the carpet cleaning business due to the worldwide pandemic, when the government shut down pretty much everything. Having cleanings carpets for over 40 years of my life, I was not sad to close up shop. I kind of wandered a bit however, having let my photography business fall by the wayside over the last few years before covid, mostly dabbling in it, picking up a few gigs here and there.
In Nov of 2025, I finally decided to make the move South to escape the cold winters of NH which for years I couldn’t stand anymore. I sold, or gave away, or threw out most of. My worldly possessions, I kept my movie and cd collection, and a number of my beloved books, but got rid of a huge percentage of them. I decided not to move any furniture, so all my worldly possessions are now in 12 plastic storage bins in storage. Every so often I check on them, and try to decide what else I can get rid of.
I don’t know if I could ever become a complete minimalist, but I think this is a pretty good start. My next living space, will definitely be a lot more sparse than my last one was!
so this brings me to the present. I have gone back and forth about whether to continue with photography as a business, but it’s something I love and am passionate about. I have always enjoyed photographing people, and capturing the real emotions of a wedding day. As I have gotten older, weddings take a bigger toll on my body physically than they used to, so I will take on weddings now, on a case by case basis. I want to focus more on the high school senior market, along with families, and also start a new venture in real estate photography.
Having moved to a brand new area where I don’t know anyone, or have any connections is challenging, but I have made a few connections recently, and I did a paid concert gig a few months back, and am doing a sweet 16 birthday party this coming weekend, so things are starting to pick up already. Getting up the. New website is going to be a big plus as well.
So here’s to the next chapter in this journey!
